Discover the depths of the Osorno volcano at Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, a discipline of cave exploration also known as Speleology.

 

Osorno volcano is located on the far west of the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, between the districts of Puerto Varas and Puerto Octay in Los Lagos region (41°06'S-72°29'W) between Llanquihue Lake and Todos los Santos Lake, the perfect cone shape of this volcano makes it one of the most remarkable volcanoes in South America. This inactive volcano is 8701ft height. On its surroundings an spectacular scenery can be seen, like the Llanquihue Lake and Tronador, Puntiagudo and Calbuco volcanoes, among others.

 

Beside its easy access, the massive volcanic caves are a singular attraction to adventure yourself. While this volcano is made of lava from basalt and basalt-andesite compound, its summit holds a massive glacier and several craters on its slopes. Moreover, there are an undetermined amount of underground passages like caverns.

Located 6 kilometers away from Ensenada on the route towards the Osorno volcano, within Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park is 'La Burbuja' Crater. Descending 65ft by ropes a 50 meter long track inside the crater appears. You will be able to see the marks left by the lava almost 130 years ago.

A 100 meters away from ´La Burbuja´crater is placed ´La Caverna´crater (The Cave). It's access is easier and only 20ft down by handrails and steps you will be able to enter this tunnel made from hardened magma and trapped gas bubble.

 

70 meters of track will let you discover this astonishing cave system formed by the lava flow and the nature's force.
